Picking up a pair of binoculars is a great way to shift your perception. Try it in your backyard and enjoy the image of a small moth flittering it's hind legs on top of a flowering sage or check out a hummingbird that's enjoying the last fuchsia blooms of the summer. Ants can be particularly interesting! Watch them carry away leaves and dropped potato chips to their mounds.
If you don't have a pair of binoculars, you can check out a "Guide Box" from Multnomah County Library at the link below. This kit includes a pair of binoculars for bird watching.
Seeing should be free, let's make it a resource for all.
